The Director of
Pharmacology will provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and
participate in targeted business development.
Technical Management of Pharmacology, Drug Development and Discovery
Studies.
Provide technical oversight/management for studies.
Provide oversight to the preparation, review and issuance of Protocols
and SOPs. Reviews, edits
and where appropriate, signs final reports prior to issuance.
Assess evolving needs for capital equipment purchases.
Assess need for pharmacological procedures and design/conduct
“validation studies” for new technical procedures/equipment.
Mentor/train laboratory personnel as necessary.
Perform analysis of data and write results, discussion and conclusions
of reports. Responsible for
determining appropriate statistical analysis of data.
Work with study directors and QA to ensure that pharmacology studies
meet required standard as determined by protocol, SOP or Good Laboratory
Practices (GLPs) if warranted.
Work with study directors to ensure that pharmacology studies meet
relevant US and/or international study guidelines.
Develop capability for cost-effective new pharmacological tests.
Requirements
Advanced
degree (PhD preferred) in Pharmacology or other relevant life science
discipline. Ten or more years
experience in conducting and managing a wide range of pharmacology
testing for the pharmaceutical industry using suitable animal models.
Knowledge of both non-GLP and GLP practices. Management of drug
development and evaluation projects, and in-vivo/vitro pharmacology.
Must have exceptional management and team building skills.
