Provides
direction to individual/multiple departmental teams.
This includes providing focus to individual team members,
communicating results/risks to management and responding to team
needs.

Assists
in the management of departmental policy according to the current
Design Control process. In
conjunction with department Director, sets appropriate timetables
within this process to ensure that the efforts of each departmental
team coincide with these timetables.

Represents
departmental interests in all internal and external communication.

Helps
in coordinating all inter- and intra-departmental inquiries in a
timely manner.

Designs
and implements research protocols or projects. Exercises independent
judgment to initiate, direct and execute moderate to highly complex
projects.

Applies
advanced analytical techniques to extend scientific theories in
innovative research projects.

Applies
a diverse knowledge of scientific research principles, practices, and
protocols in research projects; may make recommendations and
conclusions, serving as the basis for strategic decisions.

Effectively
communicates and interacts with scientists, project leaders and
management. Lends unique technical expertise in the analysis,
application, and reporting of research projects.

Supplies
technical leadership, training and direction to lower-level staff.

Establishes
common laboratory practices (batch records, SOPs, etc.) for the
preparation of critical components in the experimental design
following GLP and GMP guidelines.
PhD with at least 7 years of relevant experience or Master’sPdegree
with at least 10 years of relevant research experience with experience in
some or all: Biochemistry,
Infectious Diseases, Method Development, Molecular Biology, Organic
Synthesis, Protein Chemistry, Technology Development.
Ability
to use independent judgment to modify research concepts and approaches to
specific projects.
Ability
to provide technical guidance and leadership to departmental personnel.
A
proven track record of successful project management.
