Scientist
Company creates
proprietary assays using
cell biology and fluorescence to define temporal
and spatial activity of molecular targets and cell processes. These bioassays provide a
key step
in the drug discovery process. The Bioassay
Scientist will be part of a multi-disciplinary
development team that integrates proprietary
and existing fluorescent probes and biosensors
with mammalian cells of all types to create novel, cell-based assay formats for
proprietary high
content screening systems. The Bioassay
Scientist position involves responsibility in
several aspects of assay design including
sample preparation and selection and
optimization of fluorescence-based reagents.
The Bioassay Scientist will interact with
reagent development scientists, image
algorithmists, and bioinformatics scientists. Requirements: Requires pharmaceutical
industry experience or academic experience with
fluorescence cell-based assay development and implementation. Individuals with experience
in immunology, neurobiology, cancer, or infectious disease is desired. Strong skills in
cell culture, fluorescence cytometry, molecular biology,
and data analysis are important. Experience
with the project management aspects of assay development such as timelines, milestones,
and validation are a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience with the application
of fluorescent
probes to cell-based assays, molecular biology including mammalian expression vectors for
the transfection and isolation of stable cell clones.
Able to work independently and also be able to
initiate and develop innovative fluorescent cell-based assays. A Ph.D. in Cell Biology,
Biochemistry,
Molecular Biology, Biophysics, or a related field,
with at least three years of relevant post-doctoral industrial or academic experience or a
BS/MS
with 5-8 years of relevant industrial or academic experience is required.
