Manager / Director
of
Business Development
Location: Northwest
U.S.
The Manager/Director of Business Development will report
to the Vice President of Business Development. This individual will help drive the
commercial success of the organization, working closely with other key senior management
to develop an aggressive business development strategy. The position will have
responsibility
for corporate partnering, licensing new technologies and products, and advising the Vice
President on appropriate strategic initiatives in the area of business development.
Major Responsibilities Implement collaborative research and
licensing programs aimed at integrating the companys technologies into ongoing areas
of research and product development of potential pharmaceutical partners.
Lead a team of legal and technical
colleagues in all phases of deal-making: initial contacts, technical presentations, due
diligence, business structuring, contract writing and deal closure.
Enhance and expand existing corporate
partnerships by maintaining communications, tracking milestones, and identifying
additional strategic opportunities.
Establish contact and maintain
relationships with business development counterparts at other pharmaceutical/biotech
companies
Minimum Requirements: MS/Ph.D. in a technical field or
equivalent experience, and/or MBA or equivalent business experience.
Must possess strong experience and a
visible track record with pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry business deals
including exposure to joint ventures, in and out licensing, research collaborations and
corporate partnerships.
Must possess strong knowledge of
structuring collaborative R&D and licensing agreements. Strong negotiating skills and
imaginative deal making approaches.
The ability to establish a contact
and surveillance system to facilitate early identification of potential license,
acquisition and/or merger opportunities.
Must have a track record and
documentation (Deal Sheet) of successful licensing/business development projects.
